Above is the first draft of the CD cover for our artist based on audience research and feedback from showing them drawn designs and similar CD covers;
Why is it written in graffiti?
>KiNGSTA is a grime artist, grime is associated with the streets, and music which comes from street culture, graffiti started and stayed within the street, simple.
why the layout?
>KiNGSTA is the name being promoted, so its out there, in your face, BANG in the CD cover, and it stands out more than the name of the track, so you know which is which!
why the background?
>KiNGSTA's studios is in docklands,the area in which he lives is in docklands too, it tells you a bit about the artist, and anyone can tell its UK music cos everyone knows about the canary wharf!
what does this convey about the artist?
>that he is in fact a street artist, from docklands, and the "parental advisory" sticker associates with artists who's lyrics are "raw"..which is another feature of uk grime.
what was changed after audience feedback?
>when we first got audience feedback for the drawn draft, people were saying that having an actual image of the artist may have been too much, some people said a silhouette would be just fine, so another draft is being constructed of a very similar cover, with a silhouette of KiNGSTA..watch this space!
why the colours?
>simple, the name KiNGSTA comes from his surname, "malik" ..which means king, so thats in a different colour to the rest of the name, the name of the track is in similar colours just so that it matches and looks good!
